Published: 18-07-2024

18-07-2024 - Marine Service Noord is pleased to announce the successful commissioning of the Ammonia Fuel Supply System for the Fortescue Green Pioneer, a former offshore supply vessel built in 2010, that has been retrofitted in just 18 months to operate on dual fuel ammonia and diesel as fuel.

In close collaboration with the expert engineers from Fortescue, Marine Service Noord has designed and built the Ammonia Fuel Supply System consisting of four separate pipe skids and the required interconnecting piping. Marine Service Noord’s scope of supply consisted of:

  • 1x Ammonia Fuel Conditioning Skid;
  • 1x Bunker station skid;
  • 1x Heat recovery skid;
  • 1x Nitrogen generator skid;
  • And the required interconnecting piping.

“The skids and interconnecting piping were shipped to Singapore and installed on the ship as part of the retrofit project.” stated Gerard Eising, Sales manager at Marine Service Noord. “After extensive testing we are now pleased to announce the systems have been fully commissioned and are operating as planned within their operational design parameters.”

“We would like to thank Fortescue for their trust in our services and products and wish the Fortescue Green Pioneer “een behouden vaart” (which translates to “safe sailing” in English).”
